Geoffrey has been working with Karakan for over 20 years and is an asset to our Supported Employee team at KBH Enterprises. He has increased his role in the Timber Workshop recently as the lead manufacturer on our contract supplying survey pegs for the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing projects. He has been covered in all sorts of media and stood with numerous MPs, but he always looks most at home behind the sliding arm saw creating thousands of timber pegs.
Greg has been with Karakan for just under a year and receives support 24 hours a day, living in the community with another friend from Karakan. He loves industry, heavy machinery and getting out and about in his community. Just last month we accompanied Greg on a holiday to Western Queensland to visit the mines including a trip on the 'Outlander' train and his first flight in over 10 years.
Nicky has been with us at Karakan for nearly 3 years and she tells us that she has loved every one of them. She is involved in dance classes, local drama groups, regular discos and loves spending time just having a coffee and shooting the breeze with her team of support workers. Nicky loves a good show and the next big event on the horizon is a trip with her Support Worker to see Disney on Ice.
Conan has been with Karakan for around 9 months and he has had some great successes in that time. He has increased his independence in the local community and has developed a range of new living skills - especially within our Short Term supported accommodation program. He has just recently moved into his own home and is loving the new adventures that come with living on your own, meeting new people and trying new things!
Jason has been with Karakan for a number of years and works with our support team on a daily basis in a supported housing situation. He loves his cars and he loves his pet bird and he is constantly challenging himself to do new things and experience new adventures.
His big plan for 2017 is to embark on a holiday - maybe up to the Sunshine Coast to enjoy the sun, the sand and the surf for a week.
Luke has been working with Karakan for almost 2 years in a newly developed administration support role. Luke actually broke his leg on his first day at KBH Enterprises as he headed out to grab lunch.
